A one year course, covering a range of interactive units allowing learners to gain understanding, plus the practical skills necessary to pursue a career within the IT industry.
This course offers excellent opportunities to work with local industry, for example, completing a project for Lloyds Banking Group in Andover. Utilising the expertise of the staff who lead the course, there are many opportunities to show and display work completed by leaners. In addition to classrooms, the learners benefit from gaining hands-on experience in our all-purpose IT laboratory.
Learners will have the opportunity to develop real life working skills within the IT industry, such as meeting deadlines, working as a team, planning meetings and working independently. There will also be the opportunity to link classroom theory and vocational activities together, through occasions such as the ICT study trip to Paris.

The course offers a balance of system support and software development within IT allowing practical understanding of how industry works, whilst supported by IT. In addition to technical skills, learners will also develop the ability to communicate and present themselves effectively within this industry. The department offers the most up-to-date software, preparing the learners for the requirements of the workplace.
A successful student will make a commitment to produce work to a high standard and develop strong computer and problem solving skills, and will also show evidence of an interest in the IT / Computing Business. They will be expected to work independently outside of class and use different techniques to produce assignment work.
The department is a Microsoft and CISCO approved academy, allowing learners access to the most up-to-date software. Learners will have the opportunity to focus their learning on either system support or software development.
