This course is the first step on a career pathway in counselling and provides an introduction to necessary counselling skills. On the course you will be looking at:

• counselling theories
• diversity and ethics
• empathy
• boundaries
  
• the helpee's agenda
• developing self-awareness while speaking, listening and responding

Completion of this course does not, in itself, lead you to be able to practice as a counsellor but it may help you decide whether you would want to train as a counsellor.
