    Duration
    1 to 2 years
    Full Time or Part Time
    FT

You will be introduced to a wide range of makers and designers and carry out research and analysis of works related to 3D Design. This will be through a series of short projects that allow you to design, structures, concept architecture, products and furniture. You will then develop a portfolio of work that explores materials, design drawing and model making.

At A2 Level you will extend and develop your technical understanding of materials and making processes as well as your capabilities to generate ideas through drawing. You will develop your ideas through a personal study in one specialist area and this will include both written and practical work.

Andover College has a purpose built 3D studio managed by an experienced 3D specialist Senior lecturer and a technician. The department invites visiting makers from industry to engage with students on a regular basis, and students often engage in community based work with local arts groups.

  • Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

    Duration
    1 year
    Full Time or Part Time
    FT

The EPQ is a stand-alone qualification and complements an A Level study programme. It is equivalent in size to an AS and equivalent in standard to an A2 qualification. The EPQ allows students to develop an initial idea for a project they may wish to carry out and discuss their ideas with their supervisor.

The EPQ places great emphasis on students becoming independent learners. You must have the desire and drive to take an idea and develop it in to a project. We expect students to be committed and passionate about their choice.

    The project requires students to:

    • Devise, design and plan the project
    • Research, critically select, organise and use information
    • Select and use a range of resources
    • Analyse data, apply findings and demonstrate understanding of any links, connections and complexities of the topic
    • Select and use a range of skills to carry out the project and achieve planned outcomes
