Andover College officially opens their new Wellbeing Hub

Andover College officially opens their new Wellbeing Hub

Andover College are excited to announce the official opening of their new space – The Wellbeing Hub. The new hub comprises a student lounge, mindfulness room, Health Hub with a college nurse, Counselling suites, a private garden and meeting pods.

The Hub is designed as a safe space in which to foster positive wellbeing, personal growth and independent self-help strategies. The Wellbeing team have their own space within the hub to be able to be provide support when needed and also oversee the students using the space.

The introduction of The Wellbeing Hub is another successful part of a much larger project. The College has created a new wellbeing strategic plan which is being implemented in various different ways. Other steps in this plan have included introducing therapy dogs and hiring new staff who specialise in certain areas of wellbeing such as mental health. There are also plans to create a wellbeing garden, increased counselling provision and a peer support service.

Mathew Belson, Student Wellbeing Co-ordinator, said:” Over the past year Wellbeing has grown into a multidisciplinary team which aims to meet the individual needs of our diverse cohort of learners and this new space will undoubtedly enhance the outstanding pastoral support offered at Andover College.”

Liz Wilson, Assistant Principal (student experience), said: “Student’s mental health has always been important at Andover, but this year more than ever we need to support learners who have been out of education for many months and are facing the challenges that have come with recent global events. This new space will enable us to reach more learners and shows the colleges commitment to supporting the whole learner, not just the academic qualification ”

We are excited to see the students engage and develop within this new space of the college. The new developments within the college will continue to take it to the next level.
