Andover College Celebrate Film Festival Premiere

Andover College were delighted to have a presence at the Horror-On-Sea Film Festival earlier this month.

Organised by The White Bus, a creative film production company, this six-day film festival in Southend-on-Sea celebrates the work of UK and worldwide independent horror films.

Andover College lecturers Geoff Harmer and Peter Hearn attended the event as part of the Production team behind their forthcoming films to promote the official premieres, of ‘Virus Detected’ and the first episode of web-series ‘Frightseers’.

Frightseers, is a practical FX driven comedy horror from the Dead Air gang, written by Pete Hearn and best described as ‘Agatha Christie with Ghosts’. In its production, last year, four Andover College students, and members of the colleges Study Plus Film Enrichment joined the cast.

The festival also premiered Geoff and Peters feature film, ‘Virus Detected’ which had sequences shot at Andover College with Andover Alumni as members of the crew.

As the college moves further into VR use, the team were also delighted to have received such positive feedback from their demonstration of a short 3D VR Comedy Horror film created alongside alumni.

Geoff Harmer said: “The amazing feedback received has given us food for thought on where to take VR filmmaking going forward. We are thankful to the growing festival, Horror-On-Sea for its work to help, support and grow the independent movie scene, especially within the Horror genre.”
