Super Stars - If At First You Don't Succeed...

The Annual Hampshire College’s ‘Super Stars’ event took place at Sparsholt last month following the inaugural spectacle hosted by Peter Symonds in the previous year.

‘Super Stars’ is all about finding the best ‘all-rounders’ at sport and putting them to the test against other students of similar ability. After narrowly missing out on victory in the 2014 event, Andover College were out for revenge facing competition from Portsmouth College, Peter Symonds and Sparsholt.

Events featured a time trial rowing challenge, press up and sit up tests as well as other technical sporting challenges. Matt Smith, second year sport student, was awarded the gold medal for overall best male on the day with fellow Andover student Gio Downie finishing in 2nd place. Finally, Jenna Barrett, first year student, came 2nd in the best overall female category.

Competing in their first Super Stars, Team ‘Active Sparsholt’ got their share of the spoils winning a gold medal in the best overall male category, won by first year Ezekiel Bademosi.

Ultimately Andover College won the title of the best overall college, showing resilience to bounce back from the previous year’s set back – putting proof in the pudding, if at first you don’t succeed, try again.
