Students' Textile Designs On Display At Sir Harold Hillier Gardens

Textile hangings by our Level 2 BTEC Art and Design students are currently on display at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens.

The students were briefed to study natural forms close up; the banners they created are mostly Work . They used a variety of textile techniques including batik, dying, applique and embroidery. The work is part of their coursework; they produce work in different areas of Art and Design including painting, photography and 3D.

The hangings were designed specifically to fit the space in which they are seen at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and are part of the ‘Art in the Garden’ exhibition which will be on display outdoors in the gardens for the summer.

Amanda Ingoe, Art and Design Lecturer, said: “It is a fantastic opportunity for our students to have their work displayed alongside the work of the professional artists. The students are going to visit the Gardens in June to see their work on display.”
