Children in Need
Andover College’s Early Years and Childcare students have been out and about doing their bit for Children in Need. Through various different charity events our students have raised an amazing £752!
BBC Children in Need have been around for over half a century and have been raising money for young people in the UK that need their help. They provide grants to projects in the UK which focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged. BBC Children in Need currently support over 3,000 local charities and projects in communities across the UK.
Throughout the week, Andover College students went into Andover town centre dressed up as various characters to help raise money for the charity. The people of Andover gave generously and helped the college raise a great amount of money.
Since the Early Years Department was started at Andover College in 1994, we have raised money annually for Children in Need. We raise money for this particular charity as all money is spent on children in need within the UK and our learners are able to see locally where the money is going to. It is very positive to see where grants are given and then a direct link to where the raised funds go.
This helps with the future careers of the learners as they can then gain understanding that all resources necessary for the running of the settings need to be funded and as the majority are either charities or working within under privileged areas all available grants are gratefully received.
Since 1994 a grand total of £27,057.12 has been raised by Andover College Early Years students.
Andover College would like to say a massive thank you to all who donated and helped us raise money for this incredible cause.
