Andover College Technology and Future Skills Centre Construction is Underway

The construction of a new £2.7 million Skills Workshop for Andover College is now underway. The modern two storey building will provide teaching and workshop space for Motor Vehicle and Construction departments and will introduce electrical training to Andover.

College Principal Tim Jackson said: “This will change the face of Andover College. Year on year our student numbers continue to grow and this will provide 21st Century facilities to ensure they gain the education and skills in the electrics, brick and carpentry trade, which face a skills shortage.”

Amiri Construction says that it plans to work with the College to expand its apprenticeship programme. Its Managing Director Grahame Pettit says that as the industry grows following the shrinkage during the recession, the skills base will be an important factor.

The new Technology and Future Skills Centre is scheduled to be opened from September 2016.
