Media Studies

Media Studies provides students with vital tools that are necessary to understanding the media’s significance and its power. These courses involve the study of contemporary and historical texts from an analytical approach. Over the two-years both courses will enable you to study a range of media from different time periods, countries and cultures.

Media Studies provides you with the opportunity to explore a wide range of media texts, from television programmes, music videos and magazines to video games, vlogs and social media. This course will enable you to develop an understanding of key critical debates in the subject exploring the role that the media plays in shaping our understanding of events and issues, as well as looking at the cultural and institutional contexts in which media production and consumption take place.  You will also have the opportunity to put theory into practise through planning and producing a range of media products.
