If you’re interested in a career in law, you have plenty of options. The sector houses a range of legal jobs in addition to well-known roles such as solicitor or barrister – from arbitrator to judge. English law is used around the world
and considered the industry standard in many sectors, including maritime, insurance and financial services, and many of the world’s largest law firms are based in England and Wales.

Students explore real-life cases from civil and criminal law to see how they have shaped our current laws, as well as gaining the ability to apply law to their everyday lives and a wider understanding of law in a European and global context. Industry-relevant learning includes:

• Visits to Parliament and The Supreme Court
• A range of guest speakers from solicitors, barristers and detectives to police and probation officers
• Student-led debating group
• Talks from alumni now in organisations such as Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire Probation Services
• Using our immersive suite to explore criminal courts and roles in courts
• Links to opportunities in law and work experience such as Citizens Advice volunteering, Hampshire Constabulary Observer Scheme, The Sutton Trust Law pathway and summer school and various other legal firm/university opportunities.

Previous learners have become solicitors, probation officers, police officers, police detectives or progressed to higher education to study law or related subjects.
