Our workshops are full of amazing equipment to facilitate the intellectual and practical growth of the next generation of engineers. Students make real parts using real machines and get hands-on experience with lathes, mills, drills, and much more – as well as learning the underpinning theory. Industry-relevant learning includes:

• Behind-the-scenes tour of BMW MINI Plant to see robotics in action
• Project build days where learners work in teams to build something real, from mini engines to tools
• Visits to engineering companies, manufacturing sites, marine workshops and technology centres to showcase different engineering styles, applications and methods
• Engineering workshop masterclasses to try advanced techniques such as precision machining, fabrication or CAD/CAM
• Maritime-specialist input from Warsash Maritime School – experience what it’s like to work as a Merchant Navy Officer with professional simulators, bridge environments, and cadet training facilities.

Students can progress on to many roles or apprenticeships in areas such as Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance & Operations Engineering, Machining, Fabrication/Welding, Automotive or Marine Engineering, as well as degree programmes. Our pre-cadetship for Maritime Engineering programme is specially designed for people seeking a cadetship with a shipping company.
