Level 2 Bricklaying is a more advanced programme which will develop your trade skills to a recognised industry standard. To achieve this diploma, you will be expected to build an extensive portfolio of evidence and carry out timed practical tests that meet the higher levels of accuracy set down by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) specifications. You will need to have an interest in construction and be able to cope with the physical requirements of working in this industry. The course is designed to prepare you for a career in construction so you will need to show you are a good team player and be flexible to carry out other duties when required. 

Completion of a Foundation Programme in Bricklaying, or an equivalent qualification. GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including Maths or Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1.

  • Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
  • Understand information, quantities and communication with others
  • Set out masonry structures
  • Construct solid walling incorporating piers and arches
  • Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures

 

Coursework and final assessment. 

 

Employment in industry as an apprentice or Improver.

Our new £3.9 million Technology & Future Skills Centre opened in September 2016. The modern two storey building provides the best teaching and workshop space for our Bricklaying, Motor Vehicle and Electrical and Carpentry courses.
