Andover College’s Music Academy hosts Lockjaw Records
Andover College’s Music Academy students welcomed Label Managers Rob and Lesley from Lockjaw Records on Thursday. Lockjaw records came in to the college to talk to Music Academy students about the music industry and how to run your own record label. They delivered a fun and interactive talk that showed the students the ins and outs of how to run a record label and included activities that got the students thinking about creating their own record label.
Lockjaw Records is a European punk rock and hardcore label founded in 1997 by brothers Jack, Sam and Ben. The label was then relaunched by Rob in 2011 with Lesley joining him in 2014. Now in 2018 the label is supported by a community of hardworking individuals from across the European scene.
Music lecturer, Nick, said “It is an amazing experience for our students to hear what the industry is like from genuine music industry professionals. The talk was great as it fitted in with what our students are currently studying, and gave them great insight for their assignments”
Label Manager, Rob, said: ‘’It was a fantastic experience coming in and meeting the future artists and talents who will be helping the scene stay alive for another generation. The students were really attentive and had brilliant ideas. With the clear passion I suspect to see them all soon working as part of the industry.’’
Andover College pride themselves on offering their students the best possible college experience, we do this by offering interactive lessons every day. To find out more, come along to an open event.
