Andover College Hosts Inspiring Event for Service Children in Celebration of Military Child Month

Sparsholt College Group’s Andover Campus is proud to highlight a recent event that underscores its ongoing commitment to supporting the children of service families. In April, as part of the nationwide recognition of Military Child Month, Andover College, in partnership with the Forces Employment Charity and SeekersCreate, had the privilege of hosting a special event for local service children.
Kelly Wales, Education and Skills Liaison, Forces Employment Charity said: “It was a real privilege to be part of Creative Forces Day at Andover College. Delivering a CV workshop to Service children allows them to start thinking about their futures with confidence. At the Forces Employment Charity, we’re passionate about supporting the Armed Forces community, and it’s always inspiring to see the potential and resilience in these young people. We support young people from military families aged 16 to 24 with tailored career advice and guidance, as we understand the barriers and lack of support some experience while in education. Working with Niki Yates is always a pleasure – her passion for championing Service children truly makes a difference.”
This event aimed to inspire and empower students by providing them with an opportunity to explore their aspirations and future goals. With the support of SeekersCreate, a dynamic social enterprise dedicated to fostering meaningful connections within communities, students engaged in a creative activity that allowed them to envision and express their dreams. Under the guidance of the SeekersCreate team, students worked together to produce a vibrant piece of collaborative art, symbolising their hopes for the future.
Nikki Yates, Assistant Principal at Andover Campus, expressed her delight following the events success, saying: “It was an incredible opportunity to celebrate and support the children of our service families. At Sparsholt College Group, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all our learners feel valued and supported, no matter their background. We recognise and celebrate the unique experiences of each individual and strive to offer tailored support to help them thrive.”
The event aligns with Andover College’s broader mission to offer personalised support for service families, a group that often faces unique challenges. By fostering an inclusive environment, Andover College aims to provide these students with the tools and resources they need to succeed, both academically and personally.
