Andover College celebrate their first trip in two years
Recently a group of nine, first year A-level Geography students embarked on the college’s first residential trip in two years. The students and their lecturer Lynne, travelled to Swanage to study coastal management and processes.
Led by external tutor Barry Cullimore of Geofieldwork Ltd, and his extensive knowledge of the Dorset coast and geographical processes, the trip gave the students an opportunity to learn and practise fieldwork skills and techniques in preparation for their independent investigation coursework.
Despite the weather at times being challenging, the students were exemplary; undeterred by the wind and rain remaining focused on the task at hand.
After being unable to take lessons outside of the college for so long, this trip reminds us of the invaluable experience gained by students being able to apply their knowledge to the field respective of their subject.
Lynne McCandlish, Geography and Environmental Science lecturer said:
“Since returning to college, the students have been buzzing both with their Geography as well as with their newfound friendships.”
