The Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1) NPTC – Award – Level 2
What will I learn?
This one day training course covers the requirements of the Control of Pesticides Regulations and prepares operators for the NPTC Certificate of Competence Test. The course covers legislation, precautions necessary to use a product safely, using product label information, maintenance and storage, personal protective equipment, using label information, COSHH risk assessment and personal hygiene procedures, procedures for dealing with accidental personal contamination, the storage of pesticides, disposal of empty pesticide containers, surplus pesticide and washings, records and risks to people or the environment. Participants can also choose either PA2, PA6 or both according to their requirements.

This course is part of PA2 and/or PA6. Anyone who completes PA1 with us in year (between 1/8/24 and 31/7/25) and is also enrolled to and completes one or both PA2 or PA6 and was eligible for Full fee remission on one or both the PA2 or PA6 courses will be able to apply for a refund of their PA1 tuition fees. Please note PA1 tuition fees are payable in advance and only upon completion of either PA2 and/or PA6 a refund for PA1 fees paid can be requested – please contact part-timecourses@sparsholt.ac.uk for further details.

Where will it lead me?
Prepares operators for the NPTC Certificate of Competence Test which will normally be taken on the day of the applicator (PA2 or PA6) training.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must be 19+ on 31/8 in the academic year of the course start date in order to apply/enrol on the course.

You have to be 19+ on 31/8 in the academic year of the course start date in order to apply/enrol on the course. Due to funding restrictions this course is not available to existing full time Sparsholt College/Andover College students aged 16, 17 or 18 (or 19-24 with an EHCP) on the 31/8 in the year they started/start their course.
