The Level 3 Sport course is ideal for learners looking to combine their passion and interest for Sport with other subjects. Many study A-levels such as Biology and Psychology on route to University. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will develop an understanding of the human body and how it responds to exercise. The importance of fitness testing and training will be examined in order to understand how performance in sport can be maximised. 

Five GCSEs at grade 9 – 4 or equivalent, including English and Maths.


You will cover the following units:

  • Physiology and anatomy 
  • Assessing risk 
  • Fitness training and programming 
  • Sports nutrition 
  • Fitness testing for sport and exercise 
  • Psychology for sports performance


Online on demand exam and written reports, posters, leaflets, presentations and practical. 


A large majority of students continue to study sport into Higher Education at renowned universities on sport related degrees such as: Sport Science, Sports Journalism and Sports Development. The programme also supports entry into employment in sports-related roles such as coaching and the leisure industry. 


We have strong links with local employers and organisations and seek to have guest speakers in Sports Development, sport Science, Sports injuries as well as others. Students have the opportunity to go on course related trips domestically such as to Wembley Stadium as well as abroad on our biannual trip to Spain. 


You will have access to: Andover Leisure Centre, AFS CrossFit, Portway Stadium, Charlton 3G pitch, Golf course, MMA gym and Tennis Club
