This blend of theoretical and practical based units exposes students to a variety of skills and qualities required for success in the industry.

In the second year of the course learners are offered the opportunity to choose optional units which spark their interest. As well as core units such as Skill Acquisition and Sports Development, learners will have the option of doing Sports Coaching, Sports Injury Management, Fitness Instructor Skills as well as others.

Students also have the opportunity to play Football for the college as part of our successful Football Academy.

5 GCSE’s at grade 9-4, including English and Maths.

Our courses develop your potential whilst working towards a sports qualification at either Level 2 or 3. The BTEC qualification will provide future opportunities to progress into a sport/fitness related career. This is built around our football programme with academy training three times per week and is supplemented by a comprehensive match programme, which includes FA Youth Cup, Conference Youth Alliance League, the Hampshire Colleges Football League and the South West Counties Youth League

Assessment on all BTEC courses is through assignments and exam style controlled assessments. You will work on PowerPoint presentations, written reports, logbooks as well as various practical assessments to demonstrate skill and proficiency.

All of our level 3 qualifications have UCAS points attached to them allowing students to progress on to Higher Education to study any Sport-related degree. Students have also been successful in obtaining football scholarships in the US. Through additional qualifications, students can gain direct employment as coaches or gym instructors, for example.

You will be required to have your own practical kit for lessons. We will offer a kit package for learners to purchase.

We have strong links with local employers and organisations and seek to have guest speakers in Sports Development, sport Science, Sports injuries as well as others.
