Sport – BTEC Level 2 First Award
The Level 2 Sport course is aimed at learners looking to progress onto a Level 3 course in Sport. Building the fundamental skills and underpinning knowledge to build upon in the future. The course covers a range of practical and theoretical aspects and provides an ideal opportunity to move into employment. The course is flexible and allows you to take other GCSE subjects alongside it. You may also gain additional qualifications in Coaching, First Aid and Level 1 AIQ in Healthy Living. You should be prepared for all lessons; either practical or theory based, and apply yourselves at all times.
The Level 2 Award in Sport is a course which provides those learners who may have missed the entry gate for level 3 an opportunity to build their knowledge base before embarking on an A-level type programme. Students are taught about key concepts of fitness and exercise. We look at both the fitness industry and the Sport sector. There is a strong focus on how performance and health can be improved. Our students have access to state of the art modern facilities to learn their craft with lecturers who are highly skilled and qualified in their respective areas. We hope that all of our learners are in a position upon completion of this course to undertake a level 3 qualification with us be it A-levels or an equivalent
Coursework and final assessment.
The course provides progression on to Level 3 courses such as the BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport. The development of skills such as leadership, confidence and discipline on the course will support entry into a range of sport and non-sport related careers.
We have strong links with local employers and organisations and seek to have guest speakers in Sports Development, sport Science, Sports injuries as well as others. Students have the opportunity to go on course related trips domestically such as to Wembley Stadium as well as abroad on our biannual trip to Spain.
