The Emergency Services course prepares you for a career in the emergency services. Learners will undertake a wide variety of units, both practical and theoretical, that is mapped around Public services such as the Police, Fire Service, Prison Service and Coast Guard. Learners are expected to participate in all practical activity so that they develop the teamwork, leadership and physical fitness required by the emergency services.

Five GCSEs at grade 9 – 4 or Level 2 BTEC Diploma at Merit, or equivalent.

 

Mandatory Units:

  • Unit 1 – Prepare for a career in a chosen uniformed service
  • Unit 2 – Develop aspects of physical fitness for entry to the uniformed services
  • Unit 3 – Develop leadership skills
  • Unit 4 – Equality, Diversity and inclusion

  • Unit 5 – Uniformed services hierarchy and routine
  • Unit 6 – Values and standards
  • Unit 7 – Mental & physical wellbeing
  • Unit 8 – Carry out map reading and navigation across open country
  • Unit 10 – Understand conflict management and personal protection
  • Unit 11 – The influence of UK government, international organisations and the media on the uniformed services
  • Unit 14 – Understand the impact of war and conflict on uniformed services
  • Unit 15 – Sports coaching
  • Unit 16 – Skills for land-based outdoor adventurous activities
  • Unit 17 – Skills for water-based outdoor adventurous activities
  • Unit 18 – Outdoor and adventurous expeditions
  • Unit 19 – Understanding discipline in the uniformed services
  • Unit 23 – Volunteering in the uniformed services
  • Unit 25 – Security procedures in the uniformed services

Trips, Uniform & Gym Membership

 

You will go on a number of field trips and excursions such as a trip to Spain/France to carry out water based adventurous activities as well as trips to different public services to see them working to gain a real life insight. There are always additional trips such as a yearly skiing trip in the Alps. Along with:
