Students will explore how mental health impacts individuals, families, and communities. They’ll develop knowledge of mental health conditions, treatment approaches, and strategies to support wellbeing. The course builds key skills in communication, safeguarding, resilience, and person-centred care, preparing learners to support people with diverse mental health needs.
Assessment is through a mix of case studies, presentations, and practical activities. Students demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and behaviours in realistic care scenarios.
This pathway opens progression into university study (e.g., Mental Health Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Counselling) or directly into employment and apprenticeships in health and social care settings, including support work and mental health services.
The qualification provides ample opportunities to experience different work settings through the industry work placement element of the course.
The College collaborates with a local university to access their state-of-the-art facilities including a virtual environment. Onsite, students have access to a mock ward and domestic settings which allow them to learn in a real life setting and practice key skills essential to Nursing.
