Design and Development Mechanical Engineering – T Level

T Level (Level 3)

Type of study

School Leavers

2 Years

Mechanical Engineers play a pivotal role in the design and development of materials used in everyday products including machines, cars and manufacturing. It combines engineering physics and maths with the principles of design, manufacture and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is widely recognised that the UK needs more engineers to help it remain at the forefront of a vast range of industries. This T-level course has been developed in response to this demand and will help you develop the underpinning knowledge alongside practical skills obtained both at College and in Industry.

Five GCSEs at grade 9–4, including English, Maths and Science.

You will learn how to analyse and interpret engineering and manufacturing requirements, systems, processes and technical drawings and propose and design mechanical engineering systems, products and solutions.

Working to a clients brief, you will learn how to communicate proposals and design solutions using your skills gained through understanding specialist software, engineering equipment such as lathes and digital tools.

Assignments, course work, practical and online multiple choice assessments at the end of each unit.

Alongside your timetable at College, you will start an industry work placement from January in your first year. This will help you put in to practice all the skills, knowledge and understanding you have gained throughout the course.

The T Level helps prepare learners to become employed in the industry via a successfully completed industry placement. It also gives learners the opportunity to study university courses in Motorsport and Automotive Engineering.

£30 for Textbook and £25 for overalls

You will go on a number of field trips and excursions such as trips and visits designed to enhance your enjoyment of the course, broaden your knowledge and encourage team spirit including:
