Through the Extended Project Qualification you will develop your skills as an independent learner in a subject of your choice. This allows you to develop skills that can range from research and project management to higher level analytical skills. It is a qualification highly recommended by universities and employers.

Five GCSEs at grade 9–4, including a grade 5 in English Literature or English Language. BTEC Level 2 Qualifications considered in subject related courses.

The key aspect of the Extended Project Qualification is the freedom you have to explore a topic that really interests you.

You will have a project supervisor who will offer you guidance and feedback, and the topics covered will be entirely of your choosing.  These could extend out of your main course of studies, for example you could explore a topic that is not on the syllabus for A Level, or BTEC, but that you would like to research further.  Alternatively, you could complete a project on a subject which is not currently offered at A Level/BTEC L3, such as Astronomy or Counselling.

At the end of the course, you will give a presentation that provides opportunities for question and answer so that others can understand how you were able to produce your project.

The final product is marked and you also create and have marked a presentation.  Throughout the course you will have regular meetings for formative assessments and will have to hit targets throughout to successfully achieve the EPQ.

This course facilitates career progression in areas such as Marketing, PR, Events Management, teaching and journalism as well as entry in to Higher Education.

You will be taught in our Andover Sixth building and will have access to many different facilities, including: 2 study centres, a Library, A canteen and the Careers Hub.
