The Level 2 award in Electrical Installations is designed for students who wish to build a career as an electrician. You will gain confidence studying both practical and theory units. During your course you will gain work experience and industry enrichment to give you opportunities to gain work and an apprenticeship.

Maths and English at Grade 5 or above. Three other GCSEs at grade 4 or above, preferably including Science, or experience and knowledge of the Electrical contracting industry. A favourable report from school, or character reference from employer in a relevant industry.

 

This course includes the technical knowledge, and practical skills, to help start off your career in the electrical industry. Based in our new technology centre, you will learn from experienced professionals within the trade, using the latest industry equipment.  

This course can lead you to employment, the Level 3 qualification, or an Apprenticeship.  

  • Techniques and methods of installing different wiring systems 
  • Installing lighting and power circuits 
  • Introduction to Circuit design, inspection, and testing 
  • Principles of Electrical science such as magnetism, motors and generation 

 

You will be mainly assessed through ongoing coursework, assignment, and online exams. 

 

Upon successful completion of the programme, you could progress to an Electrical Installation Apprenticeship.

 

You will require Safety Boots, Workwear, On Site Guide, A4 lined notebook and other stationery (listed separately). 

 

There are usually invites to open events with employers, and information regarding tool fairs, and external events. 

 

Our £3.9 million Technology & Future Skills Centre opened in September 2016. The modern two storey building provides the best teaching and workshop space for our Bricklaying, Motor Vehicle and Electrical and Carpentry courses.
