Education and Training C&G – Diploma – Level 5 (Sparsholt)
What will I learn?
This Level 5 course leads to an in-service professional qualification for those working as Post-16 teachers/trainers in England. In some circumstances, those wishing to work as Post-16 teachers/trainers may be considered too, however you must have a minimum of 100 hours of appropriate teaching/training secured across the two years, to facilitate regular observation of your practice by course tutors.
The course is two years long; there is no qualification offered mid-way through. You will take an analytical and practical approach to all aspects of planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning, and will embed theories and principles of the teaching/training profession into your practice, which must demonstrate capability at Grade 2 (Ofsted measure) in order for a certificate to be awarded. You will carry out research into professionalism in education and training and conduct a piece of action research to be shared with your peers; there is continuous assessment of these and all other under-pinning units, to be accompanied by portfolios of practical teaching evidence.
You must be qualified/experienced in the subject you are delivering and possess language, literacy, numeracy and ICT skills at a minimum of Level 2, plus effective study skills to support degree-level work.
Admission onto the course of study is by interview and initial assessment.
