The objective of this qualification is to provide learners with access to subject knowledge and skills in computer science and computer systems, enabling learners to progress to further study of the sector or other sectors.
You study the BTEC Certificate in Computing (equivalent to an AS Level)
The first year is made up of two units, both core units
- Unit 02: Fundamentals of Computer Systems (Core)
- Unit 07: IT Systems Security and Encryption. (Core)
In your second year you study for the Extended Certificate in Computing.
The second year has one Core Unit.
- Unit 01: Principles of Computer Science (Core)
- Unit 17: Mobile Apps Development
You will need to be committed in producing work to a high standard and to developing strong computer and problem-solving skills, as well as be willing to show evidence of an active interest in the Computing industry. You will be expected to work independently outside of class and use different techniques to produce assignment work.
