The Level 3 OCR Advanced Nationals in Computing: Application Development is a modern, industry‑aligned qualification designed for learners who want to develop strong practical and theoretical skills in software and application development. The course introduces students to the full lifecycle of creating digital applications – from analysing user needs and designing interfaces to developing, testing, and evaluating working software solutions.

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above

 

The course will cover a range of units linked to application development, these units include topics such as:

  • Fundamentals of Application Development
  • Developing Application Software
  • Designing User Interfaces
  • Game Development

 

You will be assessed in three main forms: exams, controlled assessments and assignments.

 

  • HNC Creative Digital Technology at Andover College 
  • A Foundation Degree in a related subject  
  • BSc (Hons) Degree in Computer Science or related subject 
  • Employment in the IT sector, System Security, App Developer, IT Training or Software Development. 
  • Apprenticeship – Infrastructure Technician 

You will have various guest speakers from the industry come in throughout the course. Previous trips include; Bletchley Park and National Computer Museum 

 

You will have access to computers with industry standard Software, a Hardware and Software Lab and VR Headsets
