Our well-equipped new Technology and Future Skills Centre has individual workstations for you to develop your practical skills. In Carpentry and Joinery (Construction Skills) you will learn how to carry out basic carpentry including woodworking joints and the use of hand and power tools. You will learn about the importance of safe working practices.
You will need to have an interest in construction and be able to cope with the physical requirements of working in this industry. The course is designed to prepare you for a career in construction so you will need to show you are a good team player and be flexible to carry out other duties when required.

We have two workshops, with individual workstations/benches for you to develop your practical skills. You will learn how to carry out basic carpentry skills including woodworking joints and the use of hand and power tools. Health and safety is an important area and during your first few weeks you will be learning the importance of the need to carry out safe working practices at all times.
Coursework and final assessment.
Level 2 Apprenticeship in Site Carpentry or Bench Joiner or straight into employment.
You will also get involved with charity fundraising activities with local and national employers and voluntary organisations which provide community skills valued by employers.
Our new £3.9 million Technology & Future Skills Centre opened in September 2016. The modern two storey building provides the best teaching and workshop space for our Bricklaying, Motor Vehicle and Electrical and Carpentry courses.
