Due to the ever-growing popularity of psychology, we have introduced the BTEC Level 3 Applied Psychology course. This subject will enable you to understand the relationship between behaviour, performance and mental processes. You will then apply this knowledge to real life situations making this course all about the practical applications.  

Five GCSEs at grade 9 –4,  including Maths, Science and English Language 

 

Year 1 

Unit 2-Research methods. You will learn the scientific knowledge to enable you to carry out your own research. 

Unit 1-Psychological Approaches and Assumptions. You will look at four approaches within psychology and then apply it to aggression, gender and consumer behaviour. 

Year 2

Unit 4- Criminal and Forensic Psychology. You will look at explanations for criminality and then how this can be profiled to aid in catching and punishing criminals. 

Unit 3- Health Psychology. You will explore psychological approaches, theories and studies related to lifestyle choices, unhealthy behaviours and behavioural change, linking them to the real world applications. 

 

A mixture of assignments and external examinations. 

 

Applied Psychology can lead to many different potential career paths including; therapy, counselling, scientific research, advertising, health and social care. 

 

External speakers invited to enhance your understanding of the subject. 

 

You will be taught in our Andover Sixth building and will have access to many different facilities, including: 2 study centres, a Library, A canteen and the Careers Hub.
