The T Level in Digital Software Development is a two-year Level 3 qualification designed with employers to prepare students for careers in the digital sector. It combines classroom learning with a substantial industry placement. 

The units covered will allow you to design, implement and test software whilst understanding how to maintain and support it once in place. The course will also explore collaborative technologies that allow for better communication, collaboration and cooperation. 

 

Five GCSEs at grade 9-4, including English and Maths.

 

Core Content Includes subjects such as: 

  • Problem Analysis 
  • Software Design & Development 
  • Digital Environments 
  • Data Analysis 
  • Cybersecurity & IT Security:  
  • UX/UI Design 

Assessment is split into two main components: 

  • Core Component (50%) 
  • Two externally assessed exams. 
  • One Employer Set Project (ESP) – a practical task set by industry professionals. 
  • Occupational Specialism (50%) 
  • Observations and feedback from your industry placement (minimum 45 days). 

Grades awarded: Pass, Merit, Distinction, or Distinction*

Further Study:

  • Higher or Degree Apprenticeships in Digital and Technology Solutions. 
  • University Degrees in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields. 
  • Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) at Level 4 or 5.

The T-level qualification provides ample opportunities to experience different work settings through the industry work placement element of the course. 

 

The College has heavily invested into its digital resources allowing learners to access high performing computers and other devices. There is ongoing investment into virtual reality. The College has its own computing laboratory allowing learners to explore areas such as cyber security.
