What will I learn?

This one year course develops your literacy skills to a level that is widely recognized by employers as well as providing an opportunity to progress on to further study at college.

The course is structured in to three different areas – Reading, Writing and Speaking & Listening. Within each of these sections, you will explore a range of topics:

Reading – analysis of how a writer achieves an effect, identifying devices and colloquial terms, comparing texts, their purpose and how the writer gets the point across
Writing – sophisticated use of language and punctuation, writing, in detail, a wide variety of written documents
Speaking & Listening – participating in a formal group discussion as well as a persuasive presentation

Due to funding restrictions, this course is not eligible for:

Existing full time Sparsholt College/Andover College students aged 16, 17 or 18 (or 19-24 with an EHCP) on the 31/8 in the year they started/start their course.

Anyone undertaking an Apprenticeship
