Starting college and studying a subject that you are passionate about is exciting but it can be daunting too. We know how important it is to stay focused on your studies but recognise that life can get in the way sometimes.
That’s why we have a highly experienced Student Wellbeing Team to ensure you are able to cope with any obstacles life throws at you and to offer specialist advice and support. The team includes specialist wellbeing practitioners, Counsellors and nurses. The team are dedicated to listening and empowering you to resolve any challenges you might face to enable you to be as successful as possible at college and beyond.
The wellbeing team is focused on enabling learners to become increasingly independent learners and individuals, with the resilience to cope with the challenges they face now and in the future. The emphasis of the Wellbeing Teams work is holistic and covers wide ranging challenges including the following;
- Emotional Health and Wellbeing
- Support Children Looked After
- Support Young carers
- Alcohol and drugs
- Medical healthcare plans
- Sexual health advice
- Stop smoking support
- Healthy eating/weight concerns

If you need help to improve or develop a study skill such as spelling or writing, or have additional learning needs, then we have a specialist team trained to help you. Do you have a learning difficulty such as dyslexia, or a physical disability? Don’t worry. Your personal tutor is your ‘guide by your side’ and will help keep you on track with your studies, as well as helping you to plan life after college. We want you to achieve the best results you can!
If you are under 18 then your tutor will make sure your parents or carers are kept up to date throughout the year.
Maths and English
Our vocational courses include Functional Skills to help you achieve Level 2 Maths and English. We help guide you through basic skills in order to help prepare you for further study or employment. You can also take or re-take GCSEs in Maths and English if this is more suitable.
