Science does not necessarily need to be a purely academic course and taking one of our many BTEC course options is the ideal way to develop an understanding of the subject from a vocational context – seeing science actually work in the ‘real world’ and developing knowledge and skills that are used in the industry.

There will be many opportunities for you to participate in practical projects and experiments alongside organisations such as the British Trust of Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) and The Anton River Conservation Association (TARCA).

Taking ecological samples, analysing the oxygen content of river water and measuring river flow rates are all practical skills you will learn whilst improving the local biodiversity of the area.
