This course is a combination of practical and theoretical work, studying all aspects of music, from live performance through to the business side of the industry.

Five GCSEs at grade 9–4 (including English and Maths) and an interview to include an audition. Prior knowledge of music theory is an advantage, as is a basic understanding of a tuned instrument

 

You will study a range of music styles and learn new performance skills on the course, with a focus on developing you as an artist. Our brand-new studio enables you to record your own tracks on professional equipment.

Your final grade is based on both your first, and second-year’s work.

Coursework and final assessment. 

 

Undergraduate degree in music or a related subject. Internship/Employment within the industry including technical crew work, song writing/composing or performance as a solo artist or in a band. 

 

There are expectations throughout the year that you perform organised gigs and shows. All of these performances will be assessed as part of the course. Trips include visits to higher education institutions to experience Level 4/5 work. 

 

To help with your studies we have a multimedia suite featuring a variety of music/media-related software packages and a professional theatre for drama and music productions. There are also opportunities to collaborate with local music venues when planning and organising events.
