Future Plans: To study an apprenticeship

“Being a mature student and after having a baby, I decided to put myself back into education to learn a trade that I can apply myself to in a practical environment. Andover College was not only the closest college to travel to but also has a great reputation.

I’ve enjoyed learning a completely new subject, getting involved with the motorsport aspect of the trade and being in a great learning environment with the new workshop. Although it has been hard sometimes with a very young child, the tutors I have had over the past two years have been very supportive. They like to see their students succeed and go above and beyond their needs to make learning that little bit more fun, organising things such as racing days, go karting and motorsport on the weekends.

I hope to gain the full IMI qualification through an apprenticeship to gain the knowledge, experience and skills to eventually open my own garage. I may even study an online motorsport degree after completing my apprenticeship! Andover prepared me for future endeavours as we were all encouraged to go out and get some work experience in a garage when not in college. My time at Andover has been fun, challenging and overall it’s been a great environment to learn in.”
