What will I learn?
The HNC programme in Sport & Exercise Science is designed to be a collaboration between theoretical knowledge and the application of this to a practical situation. This allows students to develop an understanding that will allow future progression to further study or to progress into the Sport and Fitness industry via employment. Students will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of key principles learnt at level 3 and explore how these work in unison to develop performance in both health and fitness.
Alongside the HNC course, students will also have the opportunity to work towards an industry recognised Personal Training qualification that will enable them to be suitably qualified for a career in this industry. There may also be the opportunity to gain a sports massage qualification (please see below for fee details).
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is primarily coursework based. The majority of assessments are developed internally whilst one-unit, Professional Skills, is an externally assessed piece of work. Coursework will comprise of practical portfolios, laboratory reports and essays. A work placement to be completed during the academic year will also support the successful completion of these.
