Within this qualification you will gain a broader understanding of all aspects within the Production Arts. You will be given the opportunity to specialise in one particular area while also increasing your knowledge in the subject as a whole.

Like our other stage management courses, this course is designed for those who love theatre and want to take an active role in bringing creative ideas to life. You will get opportunities in lighting, sound, props, set and the back stage operations required for live performance. 

The difference this course and the others is that you get a broader spectrum for an all-round theatrical knowledge and disciplines.  

Five GCSEs at grade 9–4, including English. Merit in a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in a related subject will be considered

 

This course is designed for those of you who love theatre and want to take an active role in bringing creative ideas to life. You will get opportunities in lighting, sound, props, set and the back stage operations required for live performance.  

The first year of the course leads to a BTEC Level 3 90credit in Production Arts (Stage Management)   

The second year of the course leads to a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Production Arts (Stage Management) (equivalent to 3 A Levels).  

There are no external examinations and you will be assessed through a series of assignment briefs and projects carried out throughout the year. It is important for you to be able to manage your time effectively in order to submit your work by the deadlines set, these are a few of the units we can cover.

  • Technical stage operations 
  • Production arts workshop 
  • Scenic painting 
  • Developing costume design skills 
  • Puppet design and operation 
  • Performing Arts Business 
  •  Prop Making 

 

Coursework and final assessment 

 

Foundation Degrees or BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons) Degree in Arts Administration, Stage Management, Technical Theatre or Drama School. Employment in Arts Administration, Stage Management, Technical Theatre, Drama School or Teaching, West End, Cruise Ships

 

Theatre trips have included Warhorse, Wicked, Back Stage tour of the National Theatre and Disneyland Paris.
