Production Arts (Stage Management) – BTEC Level 3 National Subsidiary Diploma/ National Diploma

Five GCSEs at grade 9–4, including English. Merit in a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in a related subject will be considered

This course is designed for those of you who love theatre and want to take an active role in bringing creative ideas to life. You will get opportunities in lighting, sound, props, set and the back stage operations required for live performance. 

The first year of the course leads to a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma  in Production Arts (Stage Management)  

The second year of the course leads to a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Production Arts (Stage Management) (equivalent to 2 A Levels).  

There are no external examinations and you will be assessed through a series of assignment briefs and projects carried out throughout the year. It is important for you to be able to manage your time effectively in order to submit your work by the deadlines set, these are a few of the units we can cover.

• Scenic painting 
• Developing costume design skills 
• Puppet design and operation 
• Performing Arts Business 
•  Prop Making 

Coursework and final assessment 

BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons) Degree in Arts Administration, Stage Management, Technical Theatre or Drama School. Employment in Arts Administration, Stage Management, Technical Theatre, Drama School or Teaching, West End, Cruise Ships . 

Theatre trips have included Warhorse, Wicked, Back Stage tour of the National Theatre and Disneyland Paris. 

This is a very practical course which works to create a realistic experience of working within a range of production scenarios; from our in-house theatre to professional theatre spaces and Theatre in Education touring productions.
