Current affairs are a major aspect of politics, and in A Level Politics you will consider the potential impacts that past, current, and immediate, political issues could have on our government and society. You will also explore the processes and institutions that are at the heart of the politics in both the UK and in America. This will involve learning about different democratic systems, political figures, and the far-reaching consequences of political developments. You will also consider the various ways in which people engage with politics; and what influences people’s choices at the polling booth.

Your assessment for A-Level Politics is exam based. This will involve three formal exams at the end of the two year programme. You will be assessed on your knowledge and understanding of UK Government, UK Politics, and US Politics. This will involve some analysis of external sources which may take the form of speeches, polls or graphs which you must link clearly with your own knowledge. 


This subject gives you desirable transferable skills which will benefit you in a variety of degree options; including politics, International Relations and Contemporary History. This could lead you into careers in local, national or even international politics, as well as careers in education, research or journalism.  


You will go on various trip throughout our course, including: Houses of Parliament and University Visits  


You will be taught in our Andover Sixth building and will have access to many different facilities, including: 2 study centres, a Library, A canteen and the Careers Hub.
