What will I learn?
You will get an introduction into the discipline and art of professional acting. You will explore the work of practitioners in the field of theatre and film including Stanislavski and Brecht underpinning the principles of acting which will be applied practically throughout the course culminating in an end of year production. In year one you will gain a BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Performing Arts – Acting (equivalent to an AS Level).
You will apply the practical skills and theories learnt from year one. You will plan, devise and create your own performance as a theatre company. You will also conduct (with tutor support) your own special subject investigation thus identifying your own progression routes. In year two you will gain a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Performing Arts – Acting (equivalent to an A Level).

You will go on a number of field trips and excursions such as theatre visits and trips in order to contextualise and support your learning and development.
What grades will I need?
Five GCSEs at Grade A*C/9-4

Coursework and final assessment.

Higher Education with a combination of other Level 3 BTEC and A Level courses
Employment opportunities are available in a variety of performing arts related fields from:
- Stage Performance
- Broadcast Media
- Variety Performance Including Cruise Ship Work
- Work as Community/ Freelance Arts Worker
You will be encouraged to give breadth to your portfolio by considering additional programmes in:
- Production Arts (Stage Management)
- Media Studies
- A Level Theatre Studies
