HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE AT A GLANCE

Equivalent to the first year of a degree programme, this HNC in Health and Social Care places a strong emphasis on developing practical skills alongside specialist knowledge and understanding. This will enable students to make a successful transition to either employment within the sector or into Higher Education.

Students will study a range of subjects designed to provide a well-rounded understanding of the subject, including the sociological context of Health and Social Care and the physiological principles and psychology for Health and Social Care. You will also explore the subject of policy and how this impacts on the sector and how the changing political landscape shapes the provision.

Students are expected to apply their knowledge to a practical situation through the completion of 200 hours of work experience. Placements will be arranged in conjunction with staff to ensure that the most appropriate role is found.
