The Health and Social Care course is the first step in pursuing a career in Health and Social Care where the units that you study develop your skills to be able to support others such as communication, equality and diversity and health living. As well as completing coursework and 2 exams you will also participate in a work placement to put into practice what you are learning in the classroom.  

Four GCSEs at grade 9–3, including English Language

  • Health and Social Care Values (Coursework)
  • Effective Communication in Health and Social Care (Coursework)
  • Promoting Health and Wellbeing (Coursework)

 

As part of the course you will sit two exams. The remaining units are assessed through a range of methods such as leaflets, posters and essay writing. 

 

Potential progression to a level 3 Health and Social Care course, apprenticeships and work based learning courses. 

 

Through the year guest speakers provide workshops and there are off-site visits to local care providers to give you an insight into a variety of different Health and Social Care settings. 

 

You will be taught in our Andover Sixth building and will have access to many different facilities, including: 2 study centres, a Library, A canteen and the Careers Hub

 

As part of our Level 2 Certificate programme, all students will complete a work placement in a health/social care environment throughout the academic year. A dedicated
placement day will form a part of a student’s weekly timetable and there will be group tutorial sessions throughout the year, in order to complete time sheets and portfolios.
