In collaboration with leading Industry experts, Andover College is delighted to announce the launch of a new level 3 qualification in Esports from September 2021.
Over recent years, the gaming industry has transcended culture and society in a way very few people originally thought. Once the hobby of a minority, Esports is now a fast-growing global industry offering a wide range of employment opportunities either directly or through Higher Education.
The course will combine a mixture of classroom-based study alongside the development of technical skills utilising the college’s specialist equipment as well as accessing facilities in industry to supplement the knowledge and skills gained through a wide range of units including Esports skills, strategies and analysis, enterprise and entrepreneurship, games design and Esports Law and Legislation.

Year 1 consists of four mandatory units
Year 2
Consists of five units, one mandatory unit with synoptic assessment.
and four other units which we are yet to confirm but could include
Internal formative and summative assessment of coursework and synoptic assessment in some units.
The qualification is aimed at learners who want to progress to employment in the esports industry, possibly via an apprenticeship, or who may aspire to enter higher education. The qualification is endorsed by the British Esports Association as being suitable for learners who want to work in the industry. This means that it will be recognised by employers and will support entry into the industry in a range of roles. When combined with other Level 3 qualifications, this qualification also offers learners the opportunity to progress to a broad range of higher education programmes, including bachelor’s degrees.

There will be the opportunity for a variety of trips and visits on a rolling programme that include, UK cities such as London, Brighton or Oxford and residential trips that have included, Paris, Madrid, Berlin and New York. There are a number of opportunities to visit universities, studios and places of creative work.
Our Esports course is part of the digital futures offer at Andover College, the way that we design our curriculum means that you are able to develop your programme of study to meet your career aspirations without having to choose one course. Just a few examples of very many options are as follows you can study Esports with business, graphics, computing or creative media production, maths, graphics.
The Digital Futures department at Andover College is well equipped with dedicated computer work spaces, VR room, Computer Lab and Games Design room. There are additional creative spaces in department that you have access to such as photography studio, green room, film making and animation suites.
