Completion of a Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery, or an equivalent qualification. GCSEs at grade 3 or above (including Maths or Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1).
Our well-equipped new Technology and Future Skills Centre has individual workstations for you to develop your practical skills. The Architectural Joinery course will allow you to learn how to carry out basic carpentry including woodworking joints and the use of hand and power tools. You will learn about the importance of safe working practices.
You will need to have an interest in construction and be able to cope with the physical requirements of working in this industry. The Architectural Joinery course is designed to prepare you for a career in construction so you will need to show you are a good team player and be flexible to carry out other duties when required.

This is a more advanced programme which will develop your trade skills to a recognised industry standard. We have two workshops, with individual workstations / benches for you to develop your practical skills.
Coursework and final assessment.
Fast-track to Level 3 Apprenticeship in Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery or straight into employment.
You will also get involved with charity fundraising activities with local and national employers and voluntary organisations which provide community skills valued by employers.
Our £3.9 million Technology & Future Skills Centre opened in September 2016. The modern two storey building provides the best teaching and workshop space for our Bricklaying, Motor Vehicle and Electrical and Carpentry courses.
