What will I learn?

This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior beautician/beauty specialist including: removing hair using waxing techniques, applying make-up, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, manicure, pedicure, facial skincare, client care, health and safety and fulfilling salon reception duties.

You will further develop your understanding and skills by selecting a number of optional specialist units which include: tanning techniques, instructing on make-up application, removing hair using sugaring or threading techniques, eyelash perming, ear piercing and nail art techniques. This qualification’s structure provides you with the flexibility to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills for a variety of career pathways as a junior beautician/beauty specialist.

Where will it lead me?

There are many career opportunities, in a variety of contexts for a junior beautician/beauty specialist, including:
– Commercial beauty salons
– Independent/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings

Whilst this qualification’s primary purpose is to prepare you for employment as a junior beautician/beauty specialist, you may choose to develop your skills further by undertaking Technical Level qualifications in beauty therapy at Level 3, these include:

– VTCT Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy General
– VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies

Entry Requirements

Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 1 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.
