What will I learn?

The Mental Capacity Act 2005 was introduced to empower and protect people who may not be able to make some decisions for themselves. It also enables people to plan ahead in case they are unable to make important decisions for themselves in the future.

This short course is designed to provide you with a working knowledge of what The Mental Capacity Act 2005 involves along with an overview of the key components it contains (to ensure that anyone who requires its application is appropriately safeguarded.)

The course will also cover how the act applies to carers and professionals with some suggestions on how the Act might be best used in certain situations.

Entry Requirements

Delegates should have a genuine interest in this area of work (particularly with carers) and a willingness to explore and discuss issues from a professional perspective.

Some experience of supporting young people and adults to whom the MCA might apply would be beneficial.
