The T-level in Accountancy combines three main elements. The technical qualification will focus on an Assistant Accountant. This role assist in the day to day financial activities such as month end management accounts and year-end financial statements. Alongside this, you will undertake an industry placement that runs for a minimum of 45 days which will allow you to put into practice the knowledge and skills learnt. Underpinning both of these will be transferrable skills in digital, English and maths so that you are best placed to either progress to university or directly into the accounting industry.  

Five GCSEs at grade 9-4, including English and Maths. 


Over the duration of the course you will cover: 

  • Business Awareness 
  • IT Systems and Processes 
  • Ethical Standards  
  • Financial Accounting and Reporting  
  • Management Accounting


Assessment will come in different forms. In some instances, you will undertake exams to test core skills whilst practical skills test will help assess your occupational specialism (Assistant Accountant). With T-levels, your work placement employer will also help by ensuring you cover key areas within your placement which will help prepare you for assessments.  


The T-level provides an excellent stepping stone into the industry as an Assistant Accountant. There are opportunities to gain higher level qualifications and develop a specific expertise. The qualification can also lead on to Higher Education and potential degrees in Accountancy or finance. 


The T-level qualification provides ample opportunities to experience different work settings through the industry work placement element of the course.
