You will explore many aspects of accounting including preparation of final accounts for sole-traders, partnerships, limited and manufacturing companies.  Topics covered are invaluable tools used in all aspects of accounting by those who are self-employed through to managers. This course requires you to be able to think logically and have an interest in problem solving. The AAT course has been introduced as a replacement for the A Level qualification due to its significance in the industry as well as attracting additional UCAS points compared to the A Level Accounting course.  It provides the best preparation for students both in terms of industry and university study.  

Five GCSEs at grade 9-4, including English Language and a minimum grade 5 in Maths.  BTEC Level 2 qualifications considered in subject related courses. 


Level 2: Bookkeeping Transactions, Bookkeeping Controls, Elements of Costing, SAGE (accounting package)  

Level 3: Advanced Bookkeeping, Final Accounts Preparation, Management Accounting Costing, Excel, Professional Ethics, Indirect Tax (VAT) 


All exams are online and are mostly numeric although the written elements increase as you progress up the levels With some exams you get the results back the same day. 


AAT is widely sought after by employers and in Higher Education. Career paths may include finance manager, director within industry, management accountant and chartered accountant. 


Textbooks will need to be purchased 


You will go on various trips throughout college and these will be alongside other subjects such as Business.  


SAGE software needed for the course will be provided in college. You will be taught in our Andover Sixth building and will have access to many different facilities, including: 2 study centres, a Library, A canteen and the Careers Hub.
