Scrawl selected for American Film Festival

More Film Award Nominations for Scrawl

Scrawl, the fun horror feature film made and produced by Andover College students, has been selected to play the 17th annual NEVERMORE Film Festival in Durham, North Carolina, 12-14 February 2016, voted as one of the top 100 horror festivals worldwide.

The 2017 festival had 1275 submissions, booking only 11 features (including Scrawl) and 41 shorts. A juried competition festival, NEVERMORE screens submissions for horror, science fiction, mystery, thriller and action-adventure. It has an international reputation as one of the premiere genre festivals in the United States. Scrawl has been selected to play twice at the prestigious Carolina Theatre in Downtown Durham, named in the top 100 of the best theatres in the world.in the top 100 of the best theatres in the World.

Alongside student actors, Scrawl also featured a number of professionals, most notably Daisy Ridley who is currently starring in the latest Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, which was released in the UK in December.

The purpose of Peter’s ambitious project was to give all the students involved experience of working on location, on a professionally produced, directed and acted film. They all earned professional film credits giving them the advantage as they enter the film or television industry. Many of the students involved have either gone onto higher education to study Film Production, TV production, Creative Writing, Public Relations and Drama or are now working in the industry.

Andover College’s Creative and Performing Arts Department has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. In 2015 A Level Media Studies achieved 100% pass rate.
